You guys. I have been SLEEPING on Chicago! I don't know why, but Chicago was never really a city I had a burning desire to visit. I know, I was a fool.
From the food, to the architecture, to the culture, Chicago is a city that you absolutely MUST visit at least once. Whenever my husband and I visit a new city we always ask "is this a city we could live in?" and both our answers were a resounding "yes!" for Chicago.
When visiting a city for the first time, I really believe where you stay can have a huge impact on how good of a time you have and what your impression of a city is. For this trip, we decided to stay at the Loews Chicago Hotel. Well, actually it was the only hotel available in an even remotely reasonable price range thanks to the Taylor Swift concert and tons of conferences occurring the same weekend as our trip. I probably wouldn't have chosen the Loews but I am SO glad we ended up here. I loved it and would stay here again on a repeat Chicago visit.

The Rooms
We reserved a Premium King room and as far as I can tell, the only thing that differentiates the premium room from the standard (or as they call it, superior) room are the views. Premium rooms have "better" views of the city and are located on floors 4-14. Our room was on floor 4 so we didn't have great views but I wasn't too bothered by this. If views are not a huge deal for you, save a bit and just get the superior room.

I loved the style of the room. It was modern but in a way that I didn't feel would be outdated quickly. The room felt very spacious for 377 square feet.

The bed was SUPER comfortable - firm but soft. Another plus - the AC worked really well! I hate hotels with weak AC!
The Bathroom

I particularly loved the bathroom. I felt like it was very spacious and nicely designed. The water pressure in the shower was great, the lighting was great, there was plenty of counter space and the shower itself was very large. My ONLY critique is that I prefer a separate toilet area but I only really want that when traveling with children.

I know it seems silly but this little table in the bathroom was GREAT for putting our toiletries so we didn't have to clutter up the counter space around the sink.

Other Perks
Lobby Bar: The lobby of this hotel is a really nice, cozy gathering space. When we checked in, our room wasn't ready yet which wasn't a huge problem because the lobby had a coffee shop, bar and restaurant with plenty of comfortable, cozy seating.

It is not a GRAND lobby like some hotels but it is a very nice, cozy place to sit and have a drink at the end of your night or enjoy your coffee before you head out for the day.

Another super nice perk of this hotel was the flavored water and cookies they laid out daily. I haven't seen something like this in a hotel since pre-covid so this was a really nice treat! Hotels should not underestimate how valued a guest feels with some free water and little treat here and there!
Location: Since this was basically the only hotel available on the weekend we traveled to Chicago, I didn't do a ton of research about the location of this hotel but it ended up being in a super convenient location! It's in Streeterville which seemed like a quiet area but it was an easy walk to lots of popular Chicago attractions like the Bean, the Chicago Art Institute, the River walk, etc.
Transportation: Taxis and Ubers were abound at this hotel! Every Uber we called was there in less than 5 minutes.
We did not have time to check out the pool, the gym or the outdoor restaurant but it all looked very nice and I am confident we will stay here again in the near future.
Have you stayed here before? Let me know what you think!
